Killin’ It
I hate it when people tell me I’m killing it. Because the truth is, I never feel like I am. That doesn’t mean that i’m somehow unaware of or ungrateful for all my accomplishments and opportunities. It has more to do with wanting more. The work is never done….and never will be done. Chasing your dreams but also knowing exactly where you are and what you are capable of doing. There’s absolutely no time to sit back and bask in the glow of “killin’ it”.
Even just one day in the sun can cost you. There’s someone out there hungrier. Someone is out there right now putting in the time and he or she wants YOUR spot. As you read this blog, someone is in the lab, working it from all the necessary angles, donning the armor and sharpening the blade. When their name is called, they will be ready.
Stand up comedy can absolutely break you. One thing that I constantly repeat in my head is, “To be the best, you have to actually be the best.” To me, that means ever evolving and improving. Taking advice from people who’ve been there. Being the hardest worker in the room. Constantly challenging myself as to never ever feel comfortable. Remain obsessed.
There is absolutely no time to be killin’ it.
